To be owned or be a community toy.
Being owned is a serious commitment. Subs do soul searching long before the offer of a collar is made. Know what you are capable of committing to. Know how much time, money, etc. that you can offer a Dominant.
Questions you should be asking yourself are: 1. Do you want to just serve one person? 2. Are you capable of being loyal? 3. Do you share common kinks with the potential Dominant? 4. Are you able to commit to the Dominant's expectations? If any are a "no", then you are not ready to be under consideration or collared.
Be a community toy if you cannot be loyal to one. Then you are able to serve more than one. A dominant will appreciate you being honest, then dealing with a sub that does not give himself/herself freely. Being a whore, you can come and go as you please. You are able to figure out how much you want to give. You can please without the bonds of a collar. Just be honest.
Sit down and really think about where you want you D/s life to go. Do your soul-searching. Figure out your budget. Know you kinks, soft, and hard limits. Above all, be honest with yourself and others.
