If Self-Esteem Is low

There are ways to feel better about yourself. Here are some tips to improve your self-esteem:

1. Do and be your best self. RuPaul said it best, “If you don't love yourself, how in the hell you gonna love somebody else?” Start with your self. Be less critical. No one is perfect, perhaps close. Learn to accentuate the positives and fix or accept your negatives. Try being positive focused. Change your internal narrative. Learn to forgive your mistakes. A good exercise is to make a list of your positive aspects. What are you good at? What do you like about yourself? For some, this is an easy list. For others, this could take time. Start with at least five items. Add a new item weekly. Read this list often, especially when feeling low.

2. Set reasonable goals and work towards them. Achieving goals, no matter how small, can increase self-worth. Make a plan with obtainable steps. Allow yourself adequate time. If you stray from the plan, forgive yourself, and continue on. Give yourself a reward for each goal completed. Celebrate even small achievements.

3. Surround yourself with people who treat you well. Eliminate or limit time with people that tear you down (unless that is your kink). Find people that accept you for yourself and do the same for others.

4. Give of yourself. Giving is one of the best ways to build self-esteem. This can mean time or money. Volunteer your time teaching others something you excel at. Give items or money to charity. Subs spoil a Domme.

5. Learn something new. Further your education, whether that means college or trade school. Learn a new hobby. The more skills you obtain, the more self-worth you will possess.

6. Self-care is very important. Do things that make you happy. Take care of your health and get some exercise.

It takes time and work, but it is possible to develop a healthy relationship with oneself. In some cases, this could require professional help. Do what it takes and enjoy your new self-worth.
